About the department

Clinical pharmacology is the scientific discipline that involves all aspects of the relationship between drugs and humans. Pharmacology is a constantly evolving field, with new drugs and treatments being developed all the time. The main aim of clinical pharmacology in the health care system is to promote the rational, safe and economic use of drugs  to enhance patient care and treatment outcomes.

The Clinical Pharmacology department in medical education focuses to educate students about drug actions, safety, and efficacy. The department emphasizes the importance of evidence-based medicine.

A primary objective of Introduction to Pharmacology and Therapeutics is to provide a core of fundamental information and the general principles underlying the use of pharmacological agents in the practice of medicine.

It Includes the knowledge of properties, actions, and effects of drugs on biological systems, as well as the discovery, development, and evaluation of new drugs for the treatment of disease as well as the skills to select and prescribe suitable drugs according to the needs of the patient for prevention, diagnosis and treatment of common ailments. This will be fulfilled through case based discussions and problem solving which enhance the attitude of problem solving, critical thinking and self-learning.
